Welcome to The Electronic Instrument Archive. A Personal Collection of Retro Instrument Ads, Brochures, Resources & Information Primarily for the Admirer of Eighties Instrument Technology. The Information is Intended for Education & Appreciation Purposes Only. Please Enjoy!
The primary aim is to archive all the information I have collected over thirty years so visitors can share the content for their own enjoyment. It will appeal to anyone interested in the historic development of music technology and retro electronic instruments and equipment.
I have access to a large collection of music technology magazines, original brochures and information and know there are a number of admirers who will enjoy looking at the Retro Ads and Instrument Brochures. Obviously, I DO NOT own the copyright of the materials but hope nobody will be offended by me showing them. They are purely for historic appreciation. However, I have personally scanned all the information from my own collection - they are not just lifted from someone else's website. Please do not steal mine.
The website also showcases some of my own collection of electronic equipment in the STUDIO page. The equipment I own has been purchased because of nostalgic or sentimental reasons. Personally, I'm not a serious collector nor a serious musician - I just enjoy the history and advancement of technology that boomed throughout the eighties and how it shaped modern music.
Instruments such as the mighty Synclavier and Fairlight CMI were the envy of many musicians but were only affordable to institutions or decadent musicians - even if it was only for tax purposes. Please make sure you check out the Retro Brochure pages for more information. I was an employee of Fairlight UK and managed to collate a lot of information and some happy memories.
There is a lot of material to upload. PLEASE make sure you bookmark and return regularly to enjoy the updates. Click on an image to view it at higher resolution. Best viewed at 1280 x 1024 or higher.
